Crown Princess Mary is in hospital

It is being reported that Crown Princess Mary is in University Hospital in Copenhagen and that Crown Prince Frederik is with her. It is late Saturday afternoon in Copenhagen and it has been reported Mary was at home at The Chancellery House when she went into labour. Bookmakers apparently have odds the baby will be a girl, which as we know will be the first girl born in over sixty years in the Danish royal family. Mary was admitted to hospital before noon local time and it is now after 4pm.

We will keep updating information as we get it....

Mary goes into labour

April 21, 2007 - 11:19PM

Danish Crown Princess Mary went into labour and was admitted to the Copenhagen University Hospital today.

Crown Prince Frederik was at the side of his Australian-born wife, the palace said.

The royal couple already have an 18-month-old son, Christian.

If the 35-year-old princess gives birth to a girl it will be the first Danish princess born since 1946.

TV2 news is reporting it is a normal birth so far. TV2 is also reporting that as with Christian, bonfires will be lit across Denmark to mark the birth.
