Happy 75th for Prince Henrik

Today Prince Henrik celebrates his 75th birthday. Born in France, he has lived in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Paris, London and, of course, Denmark. Henrik is a most interesting consort, who speaks multiple languages and has talents including author, poet, sculptor, pianist, cook, sailor, tennis player and winemaker. By his own admission, Henrik was a strict father, but appears to be a very attentive and fondly loving grandfather to his now five grandchildren Nikolai, Felix, Christian, Isabella and the yet-to-be-named newborn prince of Joachim and Marie. Henrik doesn't come out top in royal family popularity surveys among Danes (maybe it is his imperfect Danish accent? although his knowledge of the language is said to be superior, or, his 'Frenchness'?), but he has been a loving and supportive husband to Queen Margrethe and dutiful as her consort for 42 years. The Regent couple celebrated their 42nd anniversary yesterday. He is popular among journalists who cover the royals and see him regularly up close for his good humour and ability to put people at their ease. But some recent opinion polls have not been so kind (...more to come). This morning there was the traditional birthday morning greeting to Prince Henrik from family, members of the court and friends at Fredensborg Palace and it was followed later by a parade by Royal Guards and the Music Corps.

More to come, including on opinion polls, Henrik's dogs and more on his birthday

Yes, I miss the news too, this is such a balanced and professional site--but it takes a lot of commitment and available time to keep the site updated. I hope the administrators will be able to do so soon.

Like many individuals, the Danish Royal Watchers website became a part of my daily routine with the first morning coffee. I always looked forward to reading about the amazing blessed life of Mary on a fascinating fate driven destiny.
I hope the administrators will return soon or provide and explanation. Your work was always appreciated and now is greatly missed.

I still check several times a day for the hope that a new post will be here! Since these comments must be approved by the blog authors and they are being posted, someone is reading them.. please come back! The other blog site for danish royalty news is okay and is better than nothing, but it is not at the caliber of Danish Royal Watchers Blog site!

Assuming this blog has been abandoned, is there a willingness to relinquish it to individuals willing to keep updates posted? That perhaps, new individuals can step in to assume and share responsibility for the site while maintaining the original intent and integrity? Any Volunteers?

Hi dear readers,

Thanks for all your comments and your many, many emails. Real life has overtaken our time recently and unfortunately the blog has had to take a backseat of necessity.

There is stuff going on back here, but there is a LOT to do to bring things back on line.

Sorry to say some more patience is required before the blog will be back as usual. I will post as soon as I possibly can.

Again, thank you all who have left comments and especially those many of you who have emailed. All is well, as I have said to other friends of the blog: "Am not dead!" LOL

Best to you all, and thanks sooo much for being so loyal to the blog - it is very much appreciated.

Cheers
lotte :)

Lotte—Thank you for responding to the many concerns and inquiries. Reading your message made my day. I never realized how special this blog site was to me until these last few months when postings waned. This is a high caliber blog site in comparison, and most appreciated. I also live in the U.S. I first became intrigued by the story of how Frederick and Mary first met and romance grew developing into true love; how the life of an ordinary young professional woman transformed into a modern Princess in the oldest reigning dynasties.
You have my continued encouragement and support.

Lotte, thank-you for responding and letting us all know that you hope eventually to resume posting to this marvellous site. I've been in the habit of checking it daily. There has never been any of the crassness in the commentary here that one so often finds on blogs about royal families, just good information about a family in whom many of us are interested and whom many admire. Thanks so much for your efforts in the past, and I hope you'll be back with us soon!

I'm so glad to hear you are oaky! I love this blog but you being okay is more important by far. (I was beginning to fear something really bad had happen.) Thanks for getting back to us and just know that whenever you’re ready, and able, to come back we're here. :) [hugs]

Hi to everyone!
I was also wondering why there weren't any news all the time, because I also love the blog, it really IS the best (in the meantime I was watching for another blog or website about the DRF, but I didn't find anything comparable to this one)! And now I saw all the comments and the answer of lotte, and I'm really happy and hope to be able to watch and read beautiful photos and stories as soon as possible. Could anyone maybe tell me which date lotte posted her answer? because I only sea the time, but not the date. I would like to know it because then I know better how long I have to wait... =)
(and please excuse my bad english, I'm from Germany, but I do my very best ;))

Hello From Canada. I Miss Your Site Very Much. Hope You Get Feeling Better Soon. For All Your Readers. If They Go To Billed Bladet. Then They Can Get All The Updates On The DRF. If They Hit The Translator Button, Then They Can Get It In Any Language They Want.

Well, since it’s now December 1 as I write this and she’s still not back can any one recommend another DRF dedicated site, in English, to keep up to date with the DRF? Billed Bladet just takes way too long to translate via Google and the only other DRF blog I found is just way too negative. They rather criticized and bash then to just report the news/events.
