Mary @ Australia for Save the Children gala

Crown Princess Mary has attended the gala premiere of the movie Australia at the Imperial Biografen Cinema, Copenhagen. The gala was held to benefit The Save the Children Fund and funds will go towards projects both in Denmark and abroad. The secretary general of Save the Children in Denmark, Mimi Jacobsen, received a cheque for the proceeds of the evening before the movie began from Fox Films in Denmark. Afterwards there were Australian themed food and drinks for the guests. The movie will begin its general release in Denmark on December 25. Mary was presented with a photo taken on the set of Australia in Bowen, Queensland, signed by director Baz Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. A bit of movie trivia, Russell Crowe was originally cast in the role played by Hugh Jackman and the house the three are sitting in front of in the photo, representing the house on Faraway Downs, was destroyed in a cyclone and filming was delayed while it was rebuilt.

125.400 kroner directly from "Australia"
The flashes flashed and the horses neighed as Crown Princess Mary and Save the Children's ambassadors arrived at the gala opening night of Baz Luhrmann's new film "Australia".
There were laughs, crying and glamour all through the cinema on Thursday December 11th, when the cinema's patrons saw a great love story played out in fantastic fashion.
The gala opening night of "Australia" pulled a full house and the evening was arranged in favour of The Save the Children Fund.
Before the film began Hanne Nielsen from Fox Films handed over a cheque for 125,400 DKK to Mimi Jakobsen - money, which goes to Save the Children's work for children in Denmark and the rest of the world.
After the film the guests enjoyed Australian delicacies in the Imperial's foyer and The Save the Children Fund thanks Fox Films and all the sponsors for a fantastic event.
"Australia" has Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman in the leading roles and will be premiered throughout Denmark on December 25th.

Nicole and Jackman, who both come from Mary's own native country Australia, have signed the framed picture that Mary will probably hang on the wall at home in Kancellihuset in Fredensborg with pride.
