The Chamberlain for the Household for Prince Joachim has announced that Princess Marie is expecting the couple's first child so congratulations are in order. The future royal baby will be the fifth grandchild for Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik and a new brother or sister for Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix. The expected child will be a prince or princess and follow Nikolai and Felix in the line of succession.

Today Princess Marie is travelling abroad solo, for the first time as a princess, to visit Morocco. Marie's arrival at the airport this afternoon will no doubt create a lot of interest since it coincides with the pregnancy announcement. Today the press will photograph the arrival and tomorrow the press will be able to ask questions of Marie in French and English. Marie will then visit a children's orphanage with Princess Meryem of Morocco and present a substantial gift from Lego.
