More of Isabella's big day

For days the Danish royal court has been saying the christening was going to be low-key. At Christian's christening it was not just a little boy who was christened, but a future crown prince and king. And so 323 guests were invited to Christiansborg Palace Chapel in January last year. All of "official Denmark" was represented and the christening was just as much a state affair as a family occasion. So this time press numbers were restricted to the minimum and this time the intimacy of the chapel, family and friends is what marked the christening. Nevertheless, two TV networks covered it extensively and we can enjoy it again, or for the first time if you missed it. We will post new links after some sleep!

  • A local resident was interviewed on TV2 during its coverage and she told how Mary is seen regularly on a bicycle with Christian on the back. She cycles him to nursery school wearing a safety bike helmet (thanks Librian)

  • The speculation Mary would wear a Lithuanian designer did not come to pass - she wore a dress by Danish designer Birgit Hallsten, according to TV2's commentary. Birgit Hallsten had worked on the Uffe Frank designed wedding dress for Mary

  • The Godparents:

Peter Heering, Crown Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Christian Buchwald, Princess Alexia, Dr. Nadine Johnston and Marie Louise Skeel.

Some guests (in order): Helle and Otto Reedtz-Thott, Anja Camilla Alajdi and companion, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Alexandra S-W-B, her husband Count Jeffersen von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth and their son Friedrich, Ellen Hillingsø and husband Christoffer Castenskiold, Caroline Fleming and Rory Fleming, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller with Alette Mærsk Mc-Kinney Sørensen, Søren Hedegaard and Preben Kristensen, and Prince Gustav and Carina Axelsson

Susan and John Donaldson, Prince Joachim, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix, The Queen and the Prince Consort, Friedrich, Alexandra, Nikolai, Mette-Marit, Joachim, Haakon, Felix and Victoria and the nanny of the Princess Isabella, Alicia Thunbo (please don't direct link to this photo!):

Christian deserves a section just on his own:

...and no doubt there was cake at the garden party at Chancellery House afterwards. Mary and Christian go into their guests:
