International Herald Tribune:

Swedish royals in Denmark for first state visit in 32 years
The Associated PressPublished: May 9, 2007

COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Gun salutes welcomed the Swedish royal family to Denmark on Wednesday as King Carl XVI Gustaf started his first state visit to the Scandinavian neighbor since 1975.

The king, his wife Queen Silvia and oldest daughter Crown Princess Victoria arrived in Copenhagen on a Swedish naval ship as cannons were fired from a battery in the harbor.

Denmark's royal family, headed by Queen Margrethe, greeted the visitors together with representatives from Denmark's government.

Australian-born Crown Princess Mary, who recently gave birth to her second child, did not attend the welcome ceremony, but was to meet the Swedish royals at home in Fredensborg Palace.

The Swedish royals have made several personal visits to their Danish peers, but King Carl Gustaf has not paid a state visit to Denmark in 32 years.

During their three-day stay, the Swedish royals will visit a number of Danish companies, Christiansborg Castle and see the Stravinsky ballet "Le Sacre de Printemps" at the Copenhagen Opera House.

The gala dinner photographs are just beautiful ... the colours are glorious.

One suspects Q. Margrethe (and how beautiful does the old girl look!) must have had a hand in styling it!

Look at the dresses, flowers ...

Just sensational!
