40th birthday book on Frederik

A new portrait of Crown Prince Frederik will be released shortly to coincide with the occasion of his 40th birthday this month. The book, Frederik - kronprins af Danmark, has been written by Gitte Redder and Karin Palshøj, who wrote an unnofficial biography of Crown Princess Mary together, published in 2005. Palshøj and Redder have based the book on a number of conversations during the past year in which Frederik reflects on his thoughts about being the next king. Frederik has discussed his many thoughts on how he and Mary can modernise the royal house when they become king and queen one day. According to Billed Bladet, it is a self assured and direct Frederik who looks out from the cover portrait by Steen Brogaard. In the 352 page book Frederik reflects on his development from a shy little boy to the day when he will become Denmark's king. In the book he tells about how he has thought how he and Mary can make the monarchy relevant as king and queen, while simultaneously ensuring the respect and backing of the Danish people. Frederik, Mary and Joachim have contributed to the book, so there will no doubt be some first-hand thoughts and quotes.

The book can be ordered through this link, available from May 17.
