Yesterday evening Crown Princess Mary attended the gala performance by Circus Benneweis at Bellahøj in Copenhagen to aid the Danish Association for Mental Health, of which she is patron. Circus director Diana Benneweis has supported the work of the Danish Association for Mental Health through benefit perfomances in the past. The Danish Association for Mental Health is a non government organisation with 5,000 members throughout Denmark, founded more than forty years ago to advocate for people with mental health problems and their families. The association seeks understanding for mental health problems and works on initiatives to promote mental well being, and prevention and recovery of health problems.

Crown Princess Mary was in the front row at the gala performance of Circus Benneweis, as protector for the Mental Health Association. "It was very entertaining last year," said Mary when she arrived, with a clear expectation it would be the same again this year. Mary had left her husband and the kids at home to attend the gala with her friend and lady-in-waiting Caroline Heering. Circus Benneweis celebrates its 120th anniversary this year and all the proceeds from the gala benefit goes entirely to the Mental Health Association.
