Queen Margrethe to have new knee surgery

The Lord Chamberlain for the Queen's court, Ove Ullerup, has announced Queen Margrethe will have surgery on her right knee next Thursday.

The statement says Her Majesty The Queen will have the surgery on her right knee on Tursday, February 8th at the same Orthopaedic Surgical Department at Århus Hospital where she had knee replacement surgery for her left knee on 1 June, 2006. The operation will be done by the same surgeon who did last summer's operation, Dr Anders Odgaard.

After the operation it is expected that the Queen will recuperate at Amalienborg Palace. Because of the operation some of the Queen's planned activities during the next 1-2 months will be cancelled, while others will go ahead with the participation of Prince Henrik or Crown Prince Frederik.
